Example

Worked example — Excel to CSV

Use the following inputs and settings.

Item Value
Input table.xlsx · People: Ada,36 / Lin,28; Totals: Count,2
Sheets Every sheet, one CSV each
Output files 2
Output table-People.csv
Output table-Totals.csv

Expected result — Output files: 2.

How it works

  1. Drop the .xlsx workbooks.
  2. Choose every sheet or only the first. Every sheet gives you one CSV per sheet, named after it.
  3. Pick the separator the system you are feeding expects — a semicolon is what Excel uses in much of Europe.
  4. Press Convert to CSV and download. Several sheets arrive as several files, which you can take as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Is my workbook uploaded?
No. It is unzipped and read in your browser. Payroll, pricing and customer data are exactly what should not go through someone else's server on the way to a CSV.
What happens to formulas?
They come across as the value Excel last calculated, which is what a CSV can hold — a CSV has no formulas. If a sheet was edited in something that did not store the results, those cells come out empty; opening it in Excel once and saving it fixes that.
And dates?
Excel stores a date as a serial number with a display format, and the CSV gets the date as that format shows it: Excel's standard short date as 10/1/2026 (month first, as on this English page), a column formatted yyyy-mm-dd as 2026-10-01. Where an import needs one fixed form, give the column that format in Excel first.
Does it keep the layout?
No, and no CSV can: colours, fonts, merged cells, charts and column widths are not part of the format. What comes across is the cells, in their rows, with gaps in the middle of a row preserved so the columns still line up.
It says my file cannot be read.
The old .xls format from Excel 2003 and earlier is a different kind of file and is not read here. Open it in Excel or LibreOffice and save it as .xlsx. The same goes for .numbers and .ods.
What are the free limits?
Three files a run at 20 MB each and 5 runs a day. Nothing is added to the CSVs on any plan.
